Ronald Binion has worked in television, film and theater bringing puppet characters to life. He has performed on many television shows as well as being a designer and fabricator of puppets, costumes, props and special effects. Recently he has constructed illusion effects on Broadway for the musical Pippin as well as fabricating large costume characters for the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.
Ronald designed and puppeteered the 2012 Ford Focus spokespuppet “Doug” for Ford’s online social media marketing campaign. This took the puppet character out on the streets with the pre-production model of the Ford Focus interacting with the public of Los Angeles as well as having fun on Ford’s testing track in Detroit.
Ronald performs the character Pixel on the show LazyTown, which is now airing it’s fourth season. The show is a mix of live action, dance, stunts, puppets with elaborate costumes, props and sets as well as the latest in computer generated effects. The puppets are a departure from the standard fleece puppets and are made with foam-latex with mechanisms for facial movements like eyebrows and eyelids. Comedy Central produced three seasons of the show Crank Yankers and it was picked up for a fourth season by Mtv2. Crank Yankers was an adult comedy show with puppet characters making crank phone calls. Ronald puppeteered many of the principle characters including Special Ed. Special Ed became one of the better known characters of the show and he even made an appearance on the MTV Music Video Awards in 2003 where he had a staged row with Eminem during the live broadcast.
